How to use it

Creating a Calculation

  1. Create a calculation using the tools within the 'Scenario Planner'.

  2. Input your costs, desired profit margins, and any discounts.

  3. The results of your calculation are displayed.

Saving a Scenario

  1. Once you're happy with the numbers you've put together, look for the Save Scenario button.

  2. Click the Save Scenario button.

  3. Give your scenario a name. For example: "Summer Peak Season 2025 - Standard Tour", "Winter Whale Watching - Group Discount", or "New Year's Eve Package Idea".

  4. Add a description (optional). This is useful for noting down any specific details, assumptions, or reasons behind this particular pricing scenario. For instance, you might write: "Includes new lunch option, 10% discount for bookings over 4 people," or "Testing higher prices for exclusive small group tours."

  5. Click the Confirm Save button.

  6. Your scenario is now stored. To view it later, just head back to 'Scenario Planner', and you'll find it listed under 'My Saved Scenarios'.

Tips

  • Be descriptive with your names. The more specific you are, the easier it will be to find exactly what you're looking for months down the track. "Peak Season 2024 - Family Package" is much better than just "Peak Season".

  • Use the description field. A few quick notes can save you a lot of head-scratching later on. It’s perfect for reminding yourself of the assumptions you made or the specific market you were targeting.

  • Create scenarios for different situations:

  • Seasons: Summer, Winter, Shoulder Season.

  • Guest types: Solo travellers, couples, families, corporate groups.

  • Special events: Local festivals, long weekends, public holidays.

  • Promotions: Early bird discounts, last-minute deals, package bundles.

  • Experiment fearlessly. This tool is designed for you to test ideas without any risk. Play around with different numbers, discounts, and inclusions.

  • Revisit your saved scenarios every now and then to see what you've got. You might find inspiration for a new offer or realise a past idea is perfect for a current opportunity.
