allows you to connect your own domain name to your Tourism Accelerator website. This provides a professional and memorable online presence, making it easier for potential guests to find and recognise your brand, for example, using www.youramazingtour.com.au instead of youramazingtour.tourismaccelerator.com.au.

Accessing this feature

Go to Settings > Custom Domain

How to use it

  1. On the Custom Domain page in your Tourism Accelerator Launchpad, you'll see a field asking for your domain. Carefully type in your full domain name (e.g., www.youramazingtour.com.au). Make sure there are no typos!

  2. Click the Add Domain button. You'll now see some important information appear. This will include specific "records" (like a CNAME record and possibly an A record) with unique values.

  3. Open a new tab in your web browser and log in to the website where you purchased your domain name.

  4. Look for a section related to "DNS Management," "Domain Settings," "Advanced DNS," or "Manage Domains."

  5. In your domain provider's DNS settings, add new records or edit existing ones based on the information Tourism Accelerator gave you in Step 1.

  • For the CNAME record:

  • Select "CNAME" as the record type.

  • For the "Host," "Name," or "Alias" field, you'll typically enter www.

  • For the "Points to," "Value," or "Target" field, you'll copy the CNAME value provided by Tourism Accelerator (it will look something like yoursite.tourismaccelerator.com.au).

  • You might also see a "TTL" (Time To Live) setting. You can usually leave this as default or set it to a lower value like 600 seconds (10 minutes) if you want changes to take effect faster, but the default is usually fine.

  • Save this CNAME record.

  • For the A record (if provided by Tourism Accelerator):

  • Select "A" as the record type.

  • For the "Host," "Name," or "Alias" field, you'll usually enter @ or leave it blank (this signifies your root domain, e.g., yourdomain.com.au without the www).

  • For the "Points to," "Value," or "Target" field, you'll copy the A record IP address provided by Tourism Accelerator (it will be a series of numbers, like 123.45.67.89).

  • Save this A record.

  1. Once you've saved these changes with your domain provider, it takes a little bit of time for the internet to "learn" about the new connection. This process is called "propagation." It can take anywhere from a few minutes to up to 48 hours.

  2. You can check the status back in your Tourism Accelerator Launchpad on the Custom Domain page.

  3. Once the status shows "Connected," try typing your custom domain (e.g., www.youramazingtour.com.au) into your web browser. You should now see your Tourism Accelerator website!

Tips

  • Choose a Memorable Domain Name: If you haven't bought your domain yet, pick one that's short, easy to spell, and clearly relates to your tourism business.

  • Update All Your Marketing Materials: Once your custom domain is live, make sure your customers see your brand's unique address directly in their browser, reinforcing your professionalism and making your site easy to remember.

  • Using your own domain makes your marketing materials, business cards, and social media links instantly recognisable as yours.

  • From the moment they click a link, your customers will experience a seamless, branded journey without any redirects or unfamiliar URLs.
