allow you to define the services your contractors provide. This helps streamline operations by setting clear expectations and simplifying billing. For example, you can define a "Guided Rainforest Walk" service with a specific description, rate, and payment terms.

How to use it
Add a service
Go to the 'Contractor Services' page.
Click Create. This will open a new form for you to fill in the details for your new service.
Fill in the service details:
Service Name: Give your service a clear, descriptive name. For example, "Guided Rainforest Walk (Half-Day)", "Accommodation Cleaning (Standard Room)", or "Airport Transfer (One-Way)". Keep it specific so everyone knows exactly what it is!
Description: Add more detail. What does this service involve? Are there specific inclusions or exclusions? For a guided walk, you might mention "Includes expert guide, safety briefing, and local wildlife spotting." For cleaning, perhaps "Full sanitisation, linen change, rubbish removal." The more detail, the better for setting expectations!
Category (Optional but Recommended!): Assign a category to your service to keep things organised. This could be "Tours," "Accommodation Services," "Transport," "Maintenance," or anything that makes sense for your business. If you don't have categories set up yet, you can add them or leave this blank for now.
Rate Type: How do you typically pay for this service? You'll usually have options like:
Per Hour: For services where time is the main factor (e.g., general maintenance, admin tasks).
Per Project/Job: For a fixed fee for a specific task (e.g., "Full day tour guide service").
Per Person: If the payment scales with the number of guests (e.g., "Per guest for food tasting").
Flat Fee: For a single, set amount for the entire service, regardless of time or people.
Choose the one that best fits how you'll compensate your contractor for this service.
Default Rate: Enter the standard rate you pay for this service based on the 'Rate Type' you selected. For example, if it's "Per Hour," you might enter "$45.00." You can always adjust individual contractor agreements if needed.
Payment Terms (Optional Notes): Is there anything specific about payment for this service? Maybe "Payment issued upon completion of service and submission of invoice," or "Invoice due 7 days after service." You can also use this section for any other important notes, like required qualifications for the contractor delivering the service.
Active Status: Most services will be 'Active' when you create them, meaning they're ready to be used. If you ever need to temporarily stop offering a service, you can change its status to 'Inactive' later.
Click Save. Your new service offering is added to your list!
Edit or deactivate services
Find the service in your list on the 'Contractor Services' page.
You'll see an Edit button next to each service. Click that to update any of the details.
If a service is no longer offered, you can edit it and change its status to 'Inactive' instead of deleting it. This keeps a record but prevents it from being assigned accidentally.
Tips
To get the most out of contractor service offerings:
Create a comprehensive catalogue of all the services your contractors provide, tailored specifically for your tourism business.
Provide clear service definitions, leaving no room for confusion.
Set default rates and relevant payment information for consistency and ease of management.
Group similar services together (e.g., all 'Guided Tours' or all 'Cleaning Services') for easy navigation and reporting.
Modify service details, rates, or descriptions anytime your business needs change.
Activate or deactivate services as your offerings evolve, without losing historical data.
These defined services can often be linked directly when assigning tasks or projects to specific contractors, making your workflow even smoother.
Be specific and detailed. The more information you include in your service descriptions, the better. Think about what a new contractor would need to know to perform the service perfectly. What's included? What's not included? Any specific equipment or skills required?
Review your default rates regularly to ensure they reflect current market values and your agreements with contractors. This helps with fair compensation and accurate budgeting.
Thoughtful cataloguing isn't for neatness only; it can help you analyse which types of services are most popular, which require the most contractor support, and identify areas for growth or efficiency.
If you update a service description or change a default rate, make sure to communicate these changes clearly and proactively with any affected contractors. Transparency builds trust!
What makes your tourism business special? Use the service descriptions to highlight these unique aspects, even for standard services. For example, "Guided Wildlife Photography Tour β focuses on ethical animal observation and award-winning scenic spots."
