Stripe allows you to process payments directly through your website or booking system. This integration connects your Tourism Accelerator platform with Stripe, enabling guests to pay for experiences using credit or debit cards, streamlining the booking process and improving the guest experience.

Accessing this feature

Go to Settings > Payments

How to use it

Connect to Stripe:

  1. If you don't have a Stripe account, the process below will guide you through setting one up. If you have one, ensure you have your login details.

  2. On the Payment Gateways page in Tourism Accelerator, locate the Stripe option.

  3. Click the Connect with Stripe or Add Stripe Account button.

  4. Your browser will open a new tab and redirect you to Stripe's secure website.

  5. If you have a Stripe account: Log in to your existing Stripe account by entering your email address and password, then click Log in.

  6. If you don't have a Stripe account: Stripe guides you through a sign-up process, including entering your email, setting a password, and providing business details like your business name, ABN, and bank account information.

  7. Authorise Connection: Stripe will ask you to authorise the connection with "Tourism Accelerator."

  8. Click Connect my Stripe account or Authorise access to confirm. This gives Tourism Accelerator permission to use Stripe to process payments.

  9. Return to Tourism Accelerator: After authorising the connection, you are redirected back to your Tourism Accelerator account, landing on the Payment Gateways page.

  10. Confirm Connection: Your Stripe account is now listed as "Connected" or "Active" within Tourism Accelerator, often with a green tick or confirmation message.

  11. If it doesn't appear connected, click the Connect with Stripe button again. If it still doesn't work, see the "Need More Help?" section.

With Stripe integrated, you can:

  • Accept online payments: Guests can securely pay for bookings directly on your website using major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.).

  • Streamline your booking process: Payments are handled automatically at booking, reducing manual work and improving the guest journey.

  • Offer secure transactions: Stripe is a leader in online payment security, protecting your business and guests' financial information.

  • Automate payment reconciliation: Transactions processed through Stripe are automatically recorded, making it easier to track revenue and reconcile accounts.

  • Manage refunds easily: Issue refunds directly through your Stripe dashboard, with changes reflected in your Tourism Accelerator records.

  • Support various currencies: Accept payments in multiple currencies, ideal for international guests.

  • Access detailed reporting: Your Stripe account provides reporting tools, offering insights into sales, guest behaviour, and financial performance.

Tips

To maximise your Stripe integration and ensure a smooth experience:

  • Keep your Stripe account secure: Use a strong, unique password for your Stripe login and consider enabling two-factor authentication.

  • Understand Stripe's fees: Familiarise yourself with Stripe's transparent fee structure for processing payments, available on the Stripe website.

  • Clearly communicate your policies: Ensure guests can easily find your cancellation, refund, and payment policies on your website to build trust.

  • Test your integration (recommended): Before accepting real bookings, consider a small test booking to ensure everything flows correctly from your booking page through Stripe and into your records. Refund the test payment afterwards.

  • Reconcile payments regularly: Regularly check your Stripe account against your Tourism Accelerator reports and bank statements to maintain a clear financial picture.

  • Explore Stripe's dashboard: Explore your Stripe dashboard ( dashboard.stripe.com ) for useful information, reporting tools, and features to manage payments effectively.
