improve the discoverability of your experiences within the Tourism Accelerator platform. Using relevant terms helps potential guests find your experiences through platform searches and filters, increasing bookings. For example, tagging an experience with "wildlife tour" ensures it appears when guests search for that term.

Accessing this feature

To manage experience tags and keywords for your listings:

Go to Experiences.

Choose the specific experience you wish to edit from your experience list.

Within the experience editor, locate and click on the SEO & Discoverability tab.

How to use it

The SEO & Discoverability section provides dedicated fields for inputting tags and keywords. Follow these steps to effectively use this feature:

Navigate to the Experience Editor

  1. As outlined in the "Accessing This Feature" section, open the specific experience you intend to modify and proceed to the 'SEO & Discoverability' tab.

Locate the Tags/Keywords Field

  1. Within this tab, you will find input fields specifically designated for 'Experience Tags' and 'Keywords'. These fields are designed to accept multiple terms.

Enter Your Tags/Keywords

  1. For Experience Tags: Type each tag individually. After typing a tag, press Enter or comma to separate it from the next. The system will automatically format these into distinct, clickable tags.

  2. For Keywords: Enter your keywords and key phrases, separating each with a comma. This field typically supports a broader range of descriptive phrases.

Review and Refine

  1. Before saving, review the tags and keywords you have entered. Ensure they are relevant, accurate, and free from typographical errors. Consider the various ways a guest might search for your experience.

Save Your Changes

  1. Once satisfied with your entries, click the Save button, typically located at the bottom or top right of the experience editor. Your updated tags and keywords will now be applied to your experience.

Removing Tags/Keywords

  1. To remove an existing tag, simply click the 'x' icon next to the tag within the input field. For keywords, delete the specific term from the comma-separated list. Remember to save your changes after removal.

Tips

  • Relevance is paramount: Only use tags and keywords directly related to your experience, its features, benefits, location, or target audience. Irrelevant terms can mislead users and negatively impact your search ranking.

  • Think like your guest: Consider what terms and phrases a potential guest would use when searching for an experience like yours. Use their language, not just internal jargon.

  • Be specific and descriptive: While broad terms are useful, also include specific details. For example, instead of just "Tour," consider "Sydney Harbour Sunset Cruise" or "Blue Mountains Hiking Tour."

  • Use both singular and plural forms: Guests may search using either "tour" or "tours." Including both can broaden your reach.

  • Include synonyms and related terms: Expand your keyword list by incorporating alternative words or phrases that describe your experience. For example, for "accommodation," consider "lodging," "stay," or "hotel."

  • Geographic specificity: If your experience is location-dependent, always include relevant place names (city, region, landmark).

  • Avoid keyword stuffing: Do not overload your experience with an excessive number of irrelevant or repetitive keywords. This practise can be detrimental to your search performance and user experience. Focus on quality over quantity.

  • Regularly review and update: Market trends, guest behaviour, and your experience offerings can change. Periodically review and update your tags and keywords to ensure they remain current and effective.

  • Analyse performance: If available, use platform analytics to understand which tags and keywords are driving traffic and conversions. Use this data to refine your strategy.

  • Consider long-tail keywords: These are longer, more specific phrases (e.g., "family-friendly wildlife tour Melbourne"). They often have lower search volume but higher conversion rates due to their specificity.
