The Calendar Month View offers a broad overview of your organisation's schedule. Tourism operators can use this view to identify trends, manage resources, and make informed decisions about upcoming events and deadlines.
Accessing this feature
To access the Calendar and select the Month View:
Go to the Calendar module.
Upon reaching the Calendar interface, locate the view selector typically positioned at the top of the calendar display.
Click on the option labelled 'Month' to activate the monthly calendar perspective.
How to use it
Efficiently navigating and using the Calendar Month View ensures you maintain control over your organisation's schedule. Follow these steps to maximise its capabilities:
Selecting the Month View
After accessing the Calendar, confirm that the 'Month' view is active.
If another view (e.g., Day, Week) is displayed, select 'Month' from the available view options to switch to the comprehensive monthly layout.
Navigating Between Months
To move to the preceding or succeeding months, use the directional arrow icons (typically left '<' and right '>') located near the month and year display.
Clicking the left arrow will display the previous month, while the right arrow will advance to the next month. This navigation automatically adjusts the year when transitioning between December and January.
Jumping to Today's Date
For an immediate return to the current month and date, locate and click the Today button.
This action instantly resets the calendar view to the present month, ensuring you are always aligned with current operations.
Quick Month and Year Selection
Many calendar interfaces include a dropdown menu or a date picker feature adjacent to the month and year display.
Click on the displayed month or year to reveal a dropdown list or a mini-calendar, allowing you to quickly select a specific month or year without navigating through each individual month.
Viewing Event Details
Events scheduled within the month are displayed as entries on their respective dates.
To access detailed information about a specific event, click directly on its title or entry.
A pop-up window or a sidebar will appear, presenting comprehensive details such as event title, time, duration, description, location, and any associated participants.
Adding New Events
To schedule a new event directly from the Month View, click on an empty date cell or a designated '+' icon (if available) on the desired date.
This action will typically open an 'Add Event' form, prompting you to input event specifics.
Scrolling Within the View
If a particular day contains numerous events that exceed the visible space, a scrollbar may appear within that day's cell.
Use this scrollbar to view all scheduled entries for that date. The entire calendar view may also be scrollable if the display size accommodates more than one full month vertically.
Tips
Plan and populate your calendar at least one to three months in advance. This proactive approach supports strategic alignment with organisational objectives and allows for ample preparation time.
Establish a routine for reviewing the month view at the beginning of each week or month. This practise helps to anticipate upcoming commitments, identify potential bottlenecks, and ensure all team members are aware of critical deadlines.
Always complete all relevant fields when creating an event, including detailed descriptions, locations, and participant lists. Accessing these comprehensive details directly from the month view ensures adequate preparation and seamless execution for each entry.
If your organisation uses external calendar platforms, ensure your internal calendar is configured to synchronise with them. This maintains a unified, accurate, and up-to-date schedule, preventing discrepancies and improving collaboration.
Regularly analyse the monthly pattern of events. This can help identify peak seasons, recurring tasks, and resource-intensive periods, informing future planning and operational adjustments.
Keep event titles concise, descriptive, and consistent across the organisation. Use any available categorisation, labelling, or colour-coding features to enhance readability and enable quick identification of different event types or project streams.
