for processing transactions. This allows you to easily add new cards for guest bookings or update billing details, ensuring uninterrupted service and preventing missed revenue opportunities, such as updating an expiring card to ensure bookings are not interrupted.
Accessing this feature
Go to Settings > Billing to access the payment method management interface.
How to use it
The Payment Methods section provides a centralised location to control how your transactions are processed.
Adding a New Payment Method
To add a new credit or debit card to your account:
Go to Settings > Billing.
Click the Add New Payment Method button. This will open a secure form provided by Stripe.
Carefully input the card number, expiry date (month/year), and CVC (Card Verification Value) code.
Enter the billing address associated with the card. Ensure this matches the address registered with your bank for successful verification.
If you wish for this card to be your primary payment method for all future transactions, select the Set as Default checkbox.
Review all entered details for accuracy, then click Add Card or Save Payment Method. The system will securely process and store your new payment method.
Updating an Existing Payment Method
While some card details, such as expiry dates, may be automatically updated by Stripe through network tokenization, you may occasionally need to manually update or re-enter details for an existing card, or modify its associated billing address.
Go to Settings > Billing.
Locate the payment method you wish to modify from the list and click the Edit or Update button next to it.
Update the billing address fields as required.
If the card itself has been renewed with a new number or CVC, or if the expiry date requires manual input, you may be prompted to re-enter the full card details. For expiry date updates only, often just the new expiry month and year are required.
Review the updated information, then click Save Changes to apply the modifications.
Setting a Default Payment Method
Designating a default payment method ensures that all automatic transactions are processed using your preferred card.
Go to Settings > Billing.
Locate the card you wish to set as your default.
Click the Set as Default button or toggle switch associated with that card.
A confirmation message will appear, and the selected card will be visibly marked as your default payment method. This action automatically deselects any previously designated default card.
Removing a Payment Method
You can remove payment methods that are no longer valid or required.
Go to Settings > Billing.
Locate the payment method you wish to delete from your account.
Click the Remove or Delete button next to the card.
A confirmation prompt will appear, asking you to confirm the removal. This is a security measure to prevent accidental deletion.
Confirm your decision to proceed.
Important: If the card you are attempting to remove is currently set as your default payment method, you will be prompted to select a new default or add a new card before the removal can be finalised. You cannot remove the sole remaining payment method if it is currently active.
Tips
Keep details current: Update card expiry dates and billing addresses promptly to avoid transaction failures.
Remove unused cards: Delete any payment methods that are no longer valid or in use to maintain an efficient and secure account.
Maintain a default: Always ensure a valid and current card is designated as your default payment method to prevent interruptions in service.
Backup Method: Consider storing at least two valid payment methods, with one set as default and another as a backup, for enhanced reliability.
