allow you to control the frequency and types of email updates you receive. Customise these settings to stay informed about bookings and guest communications, which helps you promptly respond to guest enquiries and secure more bookings.

Accessing this feature

Go to your Profile Settings by clicking on your user avatar in the top-right corner of your dashboard. From the dropdown menu that appears, select Settings. On the Settings page, locate and click the Email Notifications tab. This displays all available notification categories and their current preferences.

How to use it

The Email Notification Settings page allows you to manage your communication preferences. Follow these steps to customise your notifications:

  1. Locate Notification Categories: On the Email Notifications tab, you will see various categories under which different types of email communications are grouped. Common categories include:

  • System Updates: Essential announcements regarding platform maintenance, new features, or critical security information.

  • Course Progress & Milestones: Notifications related to your learning journey, such as course completion, new module availability, or reminders for upcoming deadlines.

  • Community & Engagement: Notifications for activity within forums, groups, or direct messages from other platform users.

  • Resource Updates: Notifications when new guides, templates, or other valuable resources are added or updated within the platform.

  • Account & Billing: Important information concerning your account status, payment reminders, or service-related communications.

  1. Adjust Individual Notification Preferences: Within each category, you will find specific notification types. For each type, you will typically see a toggle switch, checkbox, or radio button.

  • Toggle Switches/Checkboxes: Click or tick these options to enable or disable the receipt of specific email types. For example, you might enable "New Course Content Notifications" but disable "Weekly Progress Reports" if you prefer to monitor your progress directly within the platform.

  • Frequency Options: For certain notification types, you may have the option to select a frequency (e.g., "Instant," "Daily Digest," "Weekly Summary," or "Monthly Overview"). Choose the frequency that best suits your requirement for timely information without being overwhelmed.

  1. Review and Confirm Selections: Carefully review all your selections across all categories. Ensure that the combination of enabled and disabled notifications aligns with your preference for staying informed. Consider which communications are critical for your operational efficiency and which can be accessed by directly visiting the platform.

  2. Save Your Changes: After making all desired adjustments, click the Save Changes or Update Preferences button, usually located at the bottom of the page. Your new notification settings will not take effect until these changes are saved. The system will typically provide a confirmation message indicating that your preferences have been updated successfully.

  3. Test and Verify (Optional): If a specific notification type has an immediate trigger (e.g., a "send test email" option for certain notifications), you may use this to verify that the emails are being received as expected and are not being filtered by your email provider's spam settings. Otherwise, monitor your inbox over the next few days to confirm the changes are functioning correctly.

  4. Understanding Critical Notifications: Be aware that some essential system communications, particularly those related to account security, service disruptions, or critical policy updates, may be mandatory and cannot be disabled. These are crucial for the secure and effective use of the platform and are designed to ensure you are always informed about vital operational aspects.

Tips

  • Review your notification settings regularly, particularly when your role within your organisation changes, you start a new course, or there are significant updates to the platform. This ensures your preferences remain current and relevant.

  • Always ensure that notifications pertaining to account security, important platform updates, or urgent operational information remain enabled. These are vital for the smooth and secure operation of your account.

  • If available, experiment with different notification frequencies (e.g., daily versus weekly digests) to determine the optimal balance between staying informed and avoiding an overloaded inbox.

  • Consider creating rules or filters within your email client (e.g., Outlook, Gmail) to automatically sort platform-related emails into specific folders. This can further organise your inbox without disabling useful notifications.

  • Understand that disabling email notifications for a specific activity does not necessarily disable the corresponding notification within the platform itself. You may still see notifications within your platform dashboard or notification centre.
