How to use it

Creating a New Gallery

  1. From the Image Galleries dashboard, click the Create Gallery button.

  2. Enter a clear, descriptive Gallery Name (e.g., "Sydney Harbour Cruise", "Blue Mountains Hikes").

  3. Optionally, add a Gallery Description to provide context or internal notes.

  4. Click Create Gallery to finalise the new gallery's setup.

Uploading Images

  1. Open the desired gallery by clicking its name from the Image Galleries list.

  2. Click the Upload Images button.

  3. You can drag and drop multiple image files directly into the designated area or click Browse Files to select images from your computer.

  4. The system supports common image formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF) and automatically optimises files for web display upon upload.

  5. Monitor the upload progress. Once complete, your images will appear within the gallery.

Organising and Reordering Images

  1. Within an open gallery, images are displayed as thumbnails.

  2. To reorder images, click and drag an image thumbnail to its desired position. The system automatically saves the new order.

  3. For larger galleries, use the search bar or filtering options to locate specific images quickly.

Editing Image Details

Optimise each image for discoverability and accessibility:

  1. Click on an individual image thumbnail to open its detail panel.

  2. Title: Provide a concise title for the image (e.g., "Sunset over Opera House").

  3. Description/Caption: Add a detailed caption that provides context or tells a story.

  4. Alt Text (Alternative Text): Enter descriptive text that accurately describes the image content for accessibility purposes (screen readers) and search engine optimisation. This is critical for improving your content's reach.

  5. Tags: Assign relevant keywords or tags to categorise images and improve searchability across your platform.

  6. Click Save to apply your updates.

Managing Galleries and Images

  1. Editing Gallery Details: From the Image Galleries list, click the Edit icon next to a gallery name to modify its name or description.

  2. Deleting Images: Within an open gallery, select one or more images using the checkboxes, then click the Delete button. Confirm the action when prompted. Deleting an image is permanent.

  3. Deleting Galleries: From the Image Galleries list, click the Delete icon next to a gallery name. Note that deleting a gallery will permanently remove all images contained within it. Exercise caution.

Synchronising with Content

Once images are uploaded and organised in galleries, they can be easily linked or embedded into various content types such as product listings, blog posts, or destination pages. When editing content, find the Add Image Gallery or Insert Media option, which will allow you to select from your managed galleries. This ensures consistency and simplifies the process of updating visual content across your entire digital presence.

Tips

  • Use high-resolution, professional-grade images that accurately represent your offerings. Blurry or pixelated images detract from your brand.

  • Provide concise, descriptive alt text for every image. This not only aids visually impaired users but also improves your content's visibility in search engine results.

  • Ensure all images align with your brand guidelines regarding style, colour, and overall aesthetic. Consistency builds trust and recognition.

  • Periodically audit your image galleries. Remove outdated images, add new ones, and ensure all metadata is current and relevant.

  • Only use images for which you have the necessary rights or licenses. Attribute photographers or sources where required.

  • Use a comprehensive tagging and categorisation system to make images easy to find and manage, especially as your library grows. This improves workflow efficiency.
