Managing Event Tickets

Tickets let you control who attends your event and how much they pay. You can create multiple ticket types — from free general admission to premium VIP experiences.

Understanding ticket types

Free tickets

Perfect for:

  • Community events

  • Networking sessions

  • Information sessions

  • Member-only events

Set the price to $0, and attendees register without payment.

Paid tickets

When you charge for tickets:

  • Payments are processed through Stripe

  • Funds are deposited to your connected account

  • You receive confirmation when payment completes

Multiple ticket types

Offer different experiences or pricing:

  • General Admission — standard entry

  • Early Bird — discounted rate for early registrations

  • VIP — premium experience with extras

  • Member Rate — special pricing for members

  • Group Booking — discount for multiple attendees

Creating ticket types

  • Open your event

  • Navigate to Tickets or click Manage Tickets

  • Click Add Ticket Type

  • Fill in the details:

Ticket details

  • Name — what you call this ticket (e.g., "General Admission")

  • Description — what's included with this ticket

  • Price — the cost (including GST if applicable)

  • Quantity Available — how many can be sold

  • Min/Max per Order — limit how many someone can buy at once

Sale timing

  • Sales Start — when this ticket goes on sale

  • Sales End — when sales close (can be before the event)

Display options

  • Visibility — public or hidden (for special access)

  • Display Order — where it appears in the list

Managing existing tickets

Viewing sales

From your event dashboard:

  • See how many of each type have sold

  • Track revenue by ticket type

  • Monitor remaining availability

Adjusting quantity

Need more spots?

  • Open the ticket type

  • Increase Quantity Available

  • Save changes

Ending sales early

To stop selling a ticket type:

  • Open the ticket type

  • Set Sales End to now

  • Or set Quantity Available to 0

  • Save changes

Hiding a ticket type

For tickets that shouldn't be publicly visible:

  • Open the ticket type

  • Set Visibility to Hidden

  • Share the direct registration link with intended recipients

Pricing strategies

Early bird pricing

Encourage early registrations:

  • Create "Early Bird" ticket at a lower price

  • Set a Sales End date (e.g., 2 weeks before event)

  • Create "Standard" ticket at full price

  • Set "Standard" Sales Start when Early Bird ends

Tiered pricing

Reward commitment:

  • Super Early Bird — first 20 tickets at lowest price

  • Early Bird — next 50 tickets at moderate discount

  • Standard — remaining tickets at full price

Member discounts

Offer special rates:

  • Create a hidden ticket type for members

  • Share the direct link through member communications

  • Or use promo codes (if enabled)

Handling GST

For Australian events:

  • Include GST in your displayed price

  • Launchpad shows the GST-inclusive amount

  • Your invoices and receipts break down the GST component

Refunds and cancellations

When someone requests a refund:

  • Go to your event in Events Management

  • Find the registration

  • Process the refund through your payment provider

  • Update the registration status in Launchpad

See Cancelling an Event for bulk refund handling.

Tips for successful ticketing

  • Price appropriately — consider your costs and perceived value

  • Create urgency — limited quantities or early bird deadlines

  • Be clear — describe exactly what's included with each ticket

  • Limit purchases — prevent ticket scalping with max per order limits

  • Offer options — different price points reach different audiences

Troubleshooting

Tickets not showing

  • Check the Sales Start date hasn't passed

  • Verify Visibility is set to Public

  • Ensure Quantity Available is greater than 0

Payment issues

  • Confirm your Stripe account is connected

  • Check that Stripe is in live mode (not test)

  • Verify your Stripe account is fully activated

Wrong pricing displayed

  • Remember prices should include GST

  • Check for any active discounts or promotions

  • Clear browser cache and refresh
