Design principles

Align with objectives Each assessment should test what you taught. Be clear Participants shouldn't struggle to understand what's asked. Be fair Test the learning, not trick questions. Be practical Relate to real tourism business situations.

Question writing tips

Avoid:

  • Double negatives

  • "All of the above" / "None of the above"

  • Obvious wrong answers

  • Ambiguous wording

Include:

  • Clear, concise language

  • Relevant scenarios

  • Feedback for wrong answers

  • Mix of difficulty levels

Setting appropriate difficulty

Knowledge check (easy) "What does CRM stand for?" Understanding (medium) "Why is it important to respond to negative reviews promptly?" Application (harder) "A customer complains about a tour being cancelled due to weather. Draft an appropriate response."
