Making Your Sustainability Pledge

Taking the sustainability pledge is your first step toward becoming a Tourism for Good operator. It's a public commitment to running your business in a way that benefits the environment, your community, and future generations.

What is the sustainability pledge?

The sustainability pledge is a declaration that you're committed to:

  • Reducing your environmental impact — minimising waste, emissions, and resource use

  • Supporting local communities — creating local jobs and engaging with your community

  • Operating ethically — treating staff fairly and running a transparent business

  • Continuous improvement — always looking for ways to do better

It's not about being perfect. It's about committing to the journey.

Why take the pledge?

Making a public commitment helps you:

  • Stay accountable — a pledge creates motivation to follow through

  • Connect with others — join a community of like-minded operators

  • Attract conscious travellers — more visitors are choosing sustainable options

  • Stand out — differentiate your business in a crowded market

  • Feel proud — do work that aligns with your values

How to take the pledge

Step 1: Access Tourism for Good

  • Go to Tourism for Good from the main menu

  • Click on Take the Pledge or navigate to the pledge section

Step 2: Review the commitment

Read through the pledge statement carefully. You're committing to:

  • Assess your current sustainability practices honestly

  • Set meaningful goals for improvement

  • Take action to reduce your negative impacts

  • Share your progress and learnings

  • Support others on their sustainability journey

Step 3: Personalise your pledge

Add your own commitments:

  • Choose which pillars matter most to your business

  • Add specific goals you want to achieve

  • Set a timeline for your first actions

  • Write a personal statement about why sustainability matters to you

Step 4: Make it official

  • Review your complete pledge

  • Click Sign the Pledge

  • Your pledge is now recorded and visible in your profile

What happens after you pledge?

Once you've taken the pledge:
