Setting Trade Rates

Trade rates are the special prices you offer to travel agents, wholesalers, and tour operators. Setting the right rates helps you build profitable partnerships while giving partners room to earn on each sale.

Understanding trade pricing models

Commission-based pricing

You set a Recommended Retail Price (RRP), and partners earn a percentage commission on each sale.

Example:

  • Your RRP: $200

  • Commission rate: 20%

  • Partner earns: $40

  • You receive: $160

Best for: Retail travel agents who sell at your advertised price.

Net rate pricing

You provide a wholesale (net) price. Partners add their own margin when reselling.

Example:

  • Your net rate: $160

  • Partner sells at: $220 (their choice)

  • You receive: $160

  • Partner keeps: $60

Best for: Wholesalers and tour operators who bundle your products.

Setting net rates

Calculate your net rate

Start with your retail price and work backwards:

  • Retail Price — what customers pay direct

  • Minus your margin target — what you want to keep

  • Equals net rate — what you offer wholesalers

Example:

  • Retail: $200

  • You want to keep: $140 (70%)

  • Net rate to offer: $140

Enter net rates

  • In your rate sheet, click Configure Pricing

  • Select Net Rate as the pricing model

  • Enter the net price for each rate type

  • Click Save

Tips for setting trade rates

  • Know your costs — ensure rates cover your expenses plus profit

  • Research the market — see what competitors offer

  • Consider volume — offer better rates to high-volume partners

  • Build in flexibility — leave room for promotional periods

  • Review annually — adjust rates with your retail prices

Rate visibility

Control what partners can see:

  • Show RRP — display the recommended retail price

  • Show Net Only — only show the trade price

  • Show Commission — display the commission percentage

Configure this in Trade Settings.

Well-structured trade rates create partnerships that work for everyone.
