Adding Qualifications

Your qualifications showcase your professional skills and certifications to tourism operators. Many assignments require specific qualifications, so keeping this section up to date is essential for receiving relevant work offers.

Why Qualifications Matter

Adding your qualifications helps you:

  • Get matched with jobs that require your certifications

  • Stand out to operators looking for qualified contractors

  • Demonstrate your professionalism and commitment

  • Ensure compliance with industry requirements

  • Avoid being offered work you're not qualified to do

Types of Qualifications

The Contractor Portal supports various qualification types:

Accessing Your Qualifications

  • Sign in to the Contractor Portal at /contractor

  • Navigate to your profile

  • Click on the Qualifications tab or section

  • You'll see your current qualifications listed

Adding a New Qualification

To add a qualification:

  • Click Add Qualification

  • Select the qualification type from the dropdown

  • Enter the qualification name

  • Add the issuing organisation

  • Enter the date obtained

  • Add the expiry date (if applicable)

  • Upload supporting documentation (certificate, card, or licence)

  • Click Save Qualification

Uploading Documentation

Many operators require proof of qualifications. To upload:

  • Click Upload Document next to the qualification

  • Select the file from your device (PDF, JPG, or PNG)

  • Ensure the document is legible and shows all relevant details

  • Click Upload

Tips for good uploads:

  • Photograph or scan the entire document

  • Ensure text is readable

  • Keep file sizes reasonable (under 5MB)

  • Use clear, focused images

Managing Expiry Dates

Some qualifications expire and need renewal. The portal helps you track these:

  • Upcoming expiries β€” You'll receive reminders before qualifications expire

  • Expired qualifications β€” These are flagged and may limit available assignments

  • Renewal updates β€” Update the expiry date and upload new documentation when you renew

Expiry Notifications

You'll receive notifications:

  • 30 days before a qualification expires

  • 7 days before expiry

  • When a qualification has expired

Update your qualifications promptly to avoid interruptions to your work.

Important: Expired qualifications may limit the assignments you are offered. Keep your expiry dates up to date.

Editing a Qualification

To update an existing qualification:

  • Find the qualification in your list

  • Click the Edit button (pencil icon)

  • Make your changes

  • Click Save Changes

Common updates include:

  • Adding a new expiry date after renewal

  • Uploading updated documentation

  • Correcting information

Removing a Qualification

If a qualification is no longer relevant:

  • Find the qualification in your list

  • Click the Remove button

  • Confirm the removal

Note: Removing a qualification may affect your eligibility for certain assignments.

Verification Process

Some qualifications may require verification:

  • You add the qualification with documentation

  • The qualification shows as Pending Verification

  • An administrator reviews the documentation

  • Once verified, the status changes to Verified

Verified qualifications give operators confidence in your credentials.

Common Qualifications for Tourism Contractors

Depending on your role, consider adding:

Tour Guides:

  • First Aid certification

  • Working with Children Check

  • Tour guide certification

  • Language proficiencies

Hospitality Staff:

  • RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol)

  • Food handling certificate

  • First Aid certification

Event Staff:

  • First Aid certification

  • Manual handling training

  • Crowd management certification

Drivers:

  • Appropriate driver's licence class

  • Passenger transport accreditation

  • First Aid certification
