Exporting Reports

Exporting your data lets you analyse it in spreadsheets, create custom reports, and share insights with your team. This guide shows you how to download reports from Launchpad.

Why export your data?

Exporting is useful when you want to:

  • Analyse in Excel or Sheets — use formulas and pivot tables

  • Create custom reports — format for your specific needs

  • Archive for records — maintain historical data

  • Combine with other data — integrate with your own systems

Data security

When exporting

  • Data downloads to your device

  • Treat exports as confidential business data

  • Store securely

  • Share only with appropriate recipients

For sensitive data

  • Consider who needs access

  • Use password protection if sharing

  • Delete old exports you no longer need

  • Follow your organisation's data policies

Troubleshooting exports

Export not starting

  • Check your browser allows downloads

  • Try a different browser

  • Disable ad blockers temporarily

  • Clear browser cache

File won't open

  • Check you have spreadsheet software installed

  • Try opening with Google Sheets online

  • Verify the file downloaded completely

  • Re-export if file is corrupted

Data looks wrong

  • Check your filters before export

  • Verify the preview data table

  • Ensure correct date format in spreadsheet

  • Look for number formatting issues

Large files

For large data exports:

  • Export may take longer

  • File size may be large

  • Consider filtering to reduce scope

  • Break into multiple exports if needed

Tips for effective exports

  • Filter first — only export data you need

  • Document your exports — note what was included

  • Consistent naming — use clear file names (e.g., "Visitor-Analytics-NSW-Q3-2024.csv")

  • Version control — date your files

  • Combine with notes — add context when sharing

Common export questions

How often can I export?

Export as often as you need. There are no limits on the number of exports.

Can I automate exports?

For regular exports, consider:

  • Setting up automated reports (see next article)

  • Using scheduled reminders to export

  • Creating export checklists for regular reporting

Can I export historical data?

Yes, use the year filter to access different time periods. Note that data availability varies by how long the data source has been collecting.

Is there a row limit?

Exports include all data matching your filters. Very large exports may take longer to generate.

Exported data gives you the flexibility to analyse, report, and share insights your way.
