Requesting New Courses

Can't find a program on a topic you need? Let us know. Your suggestions help shape the training we offer to the tourism industry.

Why request new courses

Fill knowledge gaps

You might need training on:

  • Emerging industry trends

  • New technologies or platforms

  • Specific skills for your region

  • Niche areas not currently covered

Shape the future of learning

Your input helps us:

  • Understand what operators need

  • Prioritise development of new content

  • Ensure programs are relevant

  • Build a comprehensive library

How to submit a request

Using the request form

  • Go to Learning from the main menu

  • Look for Request a Course or Suggest Content

  • Click to open the request form

  • Fill in the details (see below)

  • Submit your request

What to include

A good request includes:

  • Topic — what you want to learn about

  • Why it's needed — how it would help you or others

  • Current gap — what's missing from existing programs

  • Urgency — how soon you need this training

  • Format preference — self-paced, live sessions, etc.

Example request

Topic: Social media marketing for regional tours

>

Why needed: Many regional operators struggle with social media and would benefit from tourism-specific guidance.

>

Current gap: Existing marketing courses are generic and don't address the unique challenges of regional and remote tourism businesses.

>

Urgency: Would be valuable before the next peak season.

>

Format: Self-paced with practical templates.

Making effective requests

Be specific

Instead of:

"Marketing training"

Try:

"Training on using Google Business Profile to attract tourists, including how to respond to reviews and post updates"

Explain the impact

Share why it matters:

"With cruise ships returning, many operators need training on preparing for cruise passengers. This could help dozens of businesses in our port region."

Suggest experts

If you know someone who could teach:

"I've seen [Name] present on this topic at conferences. They might be a good instructor."

Group requests

If your organisation has multiple needs:

  • Gather input from your team

  • Prioritise the most important topics

  • Submit a consolidated request

  • Explain the collective need

Tracking your requests

If a tracking system is available:

  • Go to your submitted requests

  • Add additional information if needed

Following up

If you haven't heard back:

  • Provide additional justification if helpful

Contributing to content development

Become a subject matter expert

If you have expertise:

  • Offer to contribute to course development

  • Share your real-world experiences

  • Review draft content

  • Provide case studies

Participate in pilots

New courses may need testers:

  • Sign up for pilot programs

Help others learn:

  • Share how you've applied training

  • Provide testimonials
