Adding Your ABN

Your Australian Business Number (ABN) helps verify your business and is required for trade partnerships and invoicing. Here's how to add it to your profile.

How to add your ABN

  • Go to My Business from the main menu

  • Click Edit Profile or the pencil icon

  • Find the ABN field in the business details section

  • Enter your 11-digit ABN (e.g., 12 345 678 901)

  • Click Save

ABN format

Your ABN should be:

  • 11 digits — no letters or special characters

  • Spaces optional — enter with or without spaces

  • Valid and active — registered with the ATO

Why your ABN matters

Adding your ABN enables:

  • Trade partnerships — agents need your ABN for contracts

  • Invoicing — professional invoices include your ABN

  • Verification — proves your business is legitimate

  • GST compliance — required if you're GST registered

Finding your ABN

If you're not sure of your ABN:

  • Visit the ABN Lookup website

  • Search by your business name

  • Find your registered ABN

Verifying your ABN

After you save your ABN, Launchpad automatically:

  • Checks it's a valid format

  • Verifies it exists in the ABR

  • Links it to your business profile

Troubleshooting

"Invalid ABN" error

  • Check you've entered exactly 11 digits

  • Remove any letters or special characters

  • Verify the number on ABN Lookup

ABN doesn't match business name

  • Ensure you're using the ABN registered to your trading name

  • Contact the ATO if your records need updating

Your ABN is your business identity — keep it accurate and up to date.
