Selling a Gift Voucher at Point of Sale
Step 1: Access Gift Vouchers
Open Point of Sale at
/point-of-saleClick Gift Vouchers in the product categories
Select the voucher type to sell
Step 2: Choose Voucher Details
For monetary vouchers:
Select a preset amount or click Custom Amount
Enter the value if using custom
For experience vouchers:
Select the experience
Choose participant quantity
No date selection needed (recipient books later)
Step 3: Add Recipient Details
Enter recipient's name (for personalisation)
Optionally add a gift message
Enter purchaser's details for records
Step 4: Complete the Sale
Process payment (cash or card)
Choose delivery method:
- Email: Send voucher directly to recipient - Print: Physical voucher to give in person - Email to Purchaser: They'll forward it themselves

Customising Voucher Appearance
Make your vouchers beautiful:
Go to Settings > Gift Voucher Settings
Upload your voucher image/background
Customise colours to match your brand
Edit default message text
Add terms and conditions
Click Save
Setting Voucher Validity
Configure how long vouchers remain valid:
Go to Settings > Gift Voucher Settings
Set Default Validity Period (e.g., 36 months)
Vouchers purchased show expiry date based on purchase date
Australian Consumer Law note: Gift vouchers must be valid for at least 3 years from purchase date.
Redeeming a Gift Voucher
When a customer wants to use their voucher:
At Point of Sale
Add items to the cart as normal
Click Apply Voucher or Redeem Gift Voucher
Enter the voucher code (found on their voucher)
Click Apply
The voucher value is deducted from the total
Collect any remaining balance via cash or card
Complete the sale
For Online Bookings
Customers can enter their voucher code during checkout on your website.
Partial Redemption
If the voucher value exceeds the purchase:
The sale amount is covered by the voucher
Remaining balance stays on the voucher
Customer can use the balance later
Balance is shown on their receipt
Example:
Voucher value: $150
Purchase: $99
Remaining balance: $51 (for next time)
Checking Voucher Balance
To check a voucher's remaining value:
Go to Sales > Gift Vouchers
Enter the voucher code in the search
View current balance and history
See expiry date
Or at Point of Sale:
Click Check Voucher
Enter the code
Balance displays on screen
Extending or Reissuing Vouchers
For customer service situations:
Find the voucher in Gift Vouchers
Click Edit
To extend: Update the expiry date
To reissue (lost code): Click Reissue to generate new code
Save and notify customer
Voucher Reporting
Track your gift voucher performance:
Go to Reports > Gift Vouchers
View key metrics:
- Vouchers sold (volume and value) - Vouchers redeemed - Outstanding liability (unredeemed value) - Expiring soon - Expired unredeemed Pro tip: Review outstanding voucher liability monthly for accurate financial records.
Managing Expired Vouchers
When vouchers expire:
They can no longer be redeemed at face value
The liability clears from your reports
Consider offering goodwill extensions for recently expired vouchers
