Managing Trade Commissions

Commission is the percentage of each sale that your trade partners earn. Managing commissions properly ensures partners are fairly compensated and your business remains profitable.

How commissions work

When a trade partner makes a booking:

  • Customer pays the full retail price

  • You receive the booking and payment

  • Partner earns their commission on the sale

  • You pay the commission to the partner (or deduct from their remittance)

Example:

  • Tour price: $500

  • Commission rate: 15%

  • Partner earns: $75

  • You keep: $425

Setting up commission structures

Default commission rate

Set a standard rate for all partners:

  • Go to Trade from the main menu

  • Click Settings in the hub menu

  • Under Commission Settings, enter your default rate

  • Click Save

Partner-specific rates

Give different rates to different partners:

  • Click on a partner's name

This overrides the default rate for this partner.

Commission reports

Generate reports for:

  • Monthly commission summary — totals by partner

  • Commission by product — which products generate most commission

  • Partner performance — compare partner sales and commissions

  • Unpaid commissions — outstanding amounts by partner

Access reports from Trade Reports.

Best practices for commission management

  • Document everything — keep commission agreements in writing

  • Pay promptly — builds trust and loyalty

  • Review regularly — check rates are still competitive

  • Track accurately — reconcile commissions monthly

  • Communicate changes — give notice before adjusting rates
