Access export market insights, competitive positioning data, and strategic intelligence for your tourism business.

Written by Hayden Zammit Meaney

Market Intelligence in Launchpad brings together international visitor data, export market rankings, and competitive positioning insights to help you make smarter decisions about which markets to target and how to position your business internationally.

Accessing Market Intelligence

Go to Insights Hub and select Market Intelligence.

What's available

  • Export market profiles — detailed breakdowns of Australia's key international source markets (China, UK, USA, India, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, and more), including visitor numbers, spend, and travel behaviours.

  • Market growth trends — which international markets are growing, declining, or recovering post-pandemic.

  • Regional competitive positioning — how your region compares to competing destinations across key metrics.

  • Product gap analysis — experience types that are in high demand from international visitors but undersupplied in your region.

Reading an export market profile

  1. Select a market from the International Markets list.

  2. Review the visitor volume, spend, average length of stay, and seasonality chart.

  3. Look at the Activity Preferences section to see which experiences this market is most likely to seek out.

  4. Use the Booking Behaviour section to understand lead times and how this market researches and books travel.

Using market intelligence for strategy

Market Intelligence directly informs your Trade Hub strategy. If Chinese visitors have strong affinity for your region's product types, you know which trade markets to prioritise at trade shows and which languages to invest in for collateral.

Tips

  • Review market intelligence before attending a trade show — know which markets are most valuable for your product before you walk onto the floor.

  • Cross-reference with your Tourism Research Data to validate that national trends hold true for your specific region.

  • Share relevant export market profiles with your trade partners — it helps them sell your experience more effectively to their international clients.
