The Calendar Day View provides a detailed overview of your daily schedule and resource availability. Tourism operators can use this view for efficient planning and real-time adjustments, ensuring smooth operations and optimal service delivery.
Accessing this feature
To access the Calendar Day View, follow these steps:
From your main dashboard, go to the Calendar module.
Within the Calendar interface, locate the view selector, typically positioned at the top-right or top-left of the calendar display.
Select "Day" from the available view options (e.g., Month, Week, Day). The system will then display the Day View for the currently selected date.
How to use it
The Calendar Day View offers several functionalities for managing your daily schedule:
Navigating Between Days:
Previous/Next Day: Use the left and right arrow icons, typically located adjacent to the displayed date, to move sequentially to the previous or next day.
Specific Date Selection: Click on the displayed date to open a date picker. From this calendar interface, you can select any specific date to view its schedule directly.
Viewing Daily Schedule:
The day view presents a vertical timeline, typically from 12 AM to 11 PM, segmented into hourly or half-hourly intervals. Scheduled events, bookings, or appointments are displayed as distinct blocks within their respective time slots. Each block typically shows the event title, start and end times, and potentially other key identifiers. Events may be colour-coded based on type, status, or assigned resource, providing a quick visual reference for your daily commitments.
Adding New Events:
Quick Add: Click directly on an empty time slot within the daily timeline where you wish to schedule a new event. A pop-up or modal will appear, prompting you to enter key event details such as title, duration, and associated resources.
Drag-and-Drop: Click and drag your mouse across a desired time range within the timeline. Upon releasing the mouse button, an event creation form will appear, pre-filling the selected start and end times.
Full Event Form: For more detailed event creation, a dedicated "Add Event" or "New Booking" button is often available within the day view interface, leading to a comprehensive event configuration form.
Editing Existing Events:
To modify an existing event, simply click on its block within the day view. This action will open an event details panel or a full editing form, allowing you to update the event title, description, times, assigned resources, status, and other relevant parameters. Ensure you Save any changes made to an event to apply the updates.
Deleting Events:
When an event's details panel or editing form is open, a "Delete" or "Remove" option will be available. Confirming this action will permanently remove the event from your schedule. Exercise caution when deleting events, as this action is often irreversible.
Adjusting Event Times and Durations:
Resizing: To change an event's duration, click and drag the top or bottom edge of the event block. Dragging the top edge adjusts the start time, while dragging the bottom edge adjusts the end time.
Repositioning: To change an event's time slot, click and drag the entire event block up or down the timeline to the desired new time.
Viewing Multiple Schedules (Resources/Staff):
If your organisation uses resource or staff scheduling, the day view may offer a multi-column display. Each column represents a specific resource (e.g., tour guide, vehicle, room) or staff member, allowing you to view and manage multiple daily schedules side-by-side for comprehensive planning and conflict avoidance.
Printing or Exporting Daily Schedules:
A "Print" or "Export" option may be available within the day view interface. This allows you to generate a physical copy or a digital file (e.g., PDF, CSV) of the day's schedule, useful for operational briefings or record-keeping.

Tips
Proactive Schedule Review: Begin and end each operational day by reviewing the Day View to identify any upcoming changes, potential issues, or outstanding tasks.
Use Colour-Coding: Implement a consistent colour-coding system for different event types (e.g., confirmed bookings, tentative appointments, internal meetings, maintenance) to enhance visual clarity and quick comprehension.
Block Out Unavailable Time: Proactively schedule blocks for breaks, administrative tasks, or resource unavailability to prevent accidental double-bookings.
Maintain Clear Event Titles: Use concise yet descriptive titles for all events to ensure immediate understanding of their purpose and content.
Use Quick Add Features: For routine or simple events, use the quick add or drag-and-drop functionalities to streamline your scheduling process.
Confirm Details: When creating or modifying events, double-check all details, including times, resources, and participant information, to prevent errors.
Synchronise External Calendars: If your organisation uses external calendar systems, ensure they are synchronised with your platform's calendar to maintain a unified and up-to-date schedule.
Communicate Changes: When significant changes occur in the daily schedule, ensure all affected staff or resources are promptly notified.
