Slow Loading Pages

A slow-loading dashboard or website can be frustrating when you're trying to manage bookings and run your business. Let's identify what's causing the slowdown and get things running smoothly.

Quick Fixes to Try First

Before investigating further, try these quick solutions:

1. Refresh the Page

  • Press Ctrl+F5 (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) for a hard refresh

  • This clears the cached version and loads fresh content

2. Check Your Internet Connection

  • Test your connection speed at speedtest.net

  • Try loading other websites to confirm it's not a general connection issue

  • If on Wi-Fi, try moving closer to your router

3. Close Unused Browser Tabs

  • Too many open tabs consume memory

  • Close tabs you're not using

  • This frees up resources for the pages you need

Browser-Related Solutions

Clear Your Browser Cache

Old cached data can cause slowdowns:

Chrome:

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+Delete (Mac)

  • Select "Cached images and files"

  • Click "Clear data"

  • Refresh the page

Safari:

  • Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy

  • Click "Manage Website Data"

  • Remove data for Tourism Accelerator

  • Refresh the page

Firefox:

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete

  • Select "Cache"

  • Click "Clear Now"

  • Refresh the page

Disable Browser Extensions

Extensions can significantly slow down pages:

  • Open your browser's extensions/add-ons menu

  • Temporarily disable all extensions

  • Refresh the page

  • If faster, re-enable extensions one by one to find the culprit

Common problematic extensions:

  • Ad blockers

  • Privacy/security extensions

  • Screenshot tools

  • Grammar checkers

Try a Different Browser

If one browser is slow, test another:

  • Google Chrome

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Safari (Mac only)

Update Your Browser

Outdated browsers can have performance issues:

  • Check your browser version in its settings

  • Update to the latest version

  • Restart your browser

  • Try again

Device Performance Issues

Check Available Memory

Your computer might be running low on memory:

Windows:

  • Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager

  • Check Memory usage

  • Close unnecessary programs if usage is high

Mac:

  • Open Activity Monitor (Applications > Utilities)

  • Click the Memory tab

  • Close applications using excessive memory

Restart Your Device

A simple restart can resolve many performance issues:

  • Save any open work

  • Restart your computer

  • Open your browser and try again

Check for System Updates

Outdated operating systems can affect browser performance:

  • Windows: Settings > Update & Security

  • Mac: System Preferences > Software Update

Network and Connection Issues

Wi-Fi Problems

Wireless connections can be unstable:

  • Move closer to your router

  • Avoid interference from other devices

  • Consider using a wired ethernet connection for reliability

VPN Slowdowns

If you're using a VPN:

  • Try disconnecting from the VPN temporarily

  • Test if pages load faster

  • If so, try a different VPN server or contact your VPN provider

Network Congestion

Shared networks can be slow during peak times:

  • Try working during off-peak hours

  • Check if others on your network are using bandwidth-heavy applications

  • Consider upgrading your internet plan if consistently slow

Content-Related Slowdowns

Large Images on Your Pages

If your public website pages are slow:

  • Review uploaded images – are they optimised?

  • Resize large images to web-appropriate sizes

  • Use compressed image formats (JPG for photos, PNG only when needed)

Too Many Elements

Pages with many items can load slowly:

  • Consider pagination for long lists

  • Archive old or unused content

  • Remove unnecessary widgets or elements

Checking System Status

Sometimes slowdowns affect everyone:

Check Our Status Page

Visit our status page to see if there are any known issues:

  • Check for reported incidents or maintenance

  • Subscribe to updates if an issue is ongoing

  • Wait for resolution if there's a system-wide problem

Peak Usage Times

The system may be slower during high-traffic periods:

  • Major tourism seasons

  • Popular booking times

  • After marketing campaigns

Dashboard-Specific Performance

Slow Booking Lists

If your bookings page loads slowly:

  • Use date filters to limit results

  • Search for specific bookings rather than scrolling

  • Archive old bookings you no longer need

Slow Reports

Large reports take longer to generate:

  • Use shorter date ranges

  • Export reports for offline analysis

  • Schedule reports for off-peak times

Slow Media Library

If your images/files section is slow:

  • Organise files into folders

  • Delete unused images

  • Upload optimised images

Measuring Performance

Browser Developer Tools

Check what's taking time:

  • Press F12 to open Developer Tools

  • Go to the Network tab

  • Refresh the page

  • Look for items that take longest to load
